Stan Lee received a black belt with out even knowing real martial arts unless you consider writing fights between super heroes and villains a martial art.
Stan Lee received a great surprise at the St. Louis Comic Con this past weekend as he was awarded an honorary Black Belt by friend of GoFreakMedia, Alberto Friedmann. Friedman is the head coach of the US Martial Arts Team and has had this in the works for years.
“For many of us in my generation in the martial arts our first exposure to the arts was through your (Stan Lee’s) comics. Whether it was through the action that was taking place, through the philosophy being brought out, and there are masters and grand masters throughout the world that credit you (Stan Lee) as being their inspiration to get into the martial arts.” said Friedmann. “Wait till I tell my wife!” a joyous Lee exclaimed. Lee was then presented with his belt and the honorary rank or Master.
Friedmann later posted on his facebook page: “Tying a belt onto Stan Lee counts as a highpoint in my life as both a martial artist and a nerd!”
Way to go guys! It’s always good to see those that inspire others to do great things getting rewarded for their work. EXCELSIOR, TRUE BELIEVERS!
