5 reasons why Tron Legacy will be better than Avatar

5) Better cameras. The 3-D in Tron Legacy will be amazing. Tron legacy was shot with the new generation of fusion cameras, updated versions of the ones used to shoot Avatar. And unlike some other movies that tried to ride on the success of Avatar by taking 2-D footage and trying to later render it 3-D with unimpressive graphics, Tron Legacy, like Avatar, has been shot in 3-D from the start. Using James Cameron’s techniques with better cameras should yield some amazing results.
4) Better storyline. Unlike Avatar, Tron Legacy won’t be a sci-fi version of Dances with Wolves, or a live action Ferngully. This story, about a son searching for his lost father, should prove much more original then Avatar. Don’t worry it’s also not a remake (or “re-imagining” as the Hollywood exec’s call it) of the first Tron. It is an actual sequel that takes place in real time, over 20 years after the first, and even though it’s a sequel the film makers say it can stand alone and you don’t need to have seen the first Tron to understand or enjoy this one. But I say watch the first one anyway, just cause it’s still cool after all these years.
3) Music by Daft Punk!!! Yeah, that’s right, Daft Punk is doing the musical score. Do I need to say it “One More Time?”, or can I just continue to say how the music will make Tron Legacy “Harder Better Faster Stronger?” (If you didn’t get those Daft Punk references, do yourself a favor and look into their music. No need to thank me.) Sorry Avatar, but your soundtrack reminds me of eating at the Rainforest Café. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it just doesn’t inspire me to shake my tail feathers if you know what I mean.
2) Light Cycles!!! The iconic Light Cycles are back and are going to look so awesome in 3-D! Who didn’t wish they had their own Light Cycle after seeing the first Tron? Avatar had nothing even close to being “Light Cycle cool”. Let’s face it; the robotic suits in Avatar were pretty cool, but they were cooler when we first saw Ripley use them in Aliens.
1) Dude… it stars “The Dude”! Sure, Avatar did a good job with its casting. Choosing sci-fi goddess Sigourney Weaver to be in Avatar was a great move, but Tron Legacy has “The Dude”. Academy award winner Jeff Bridges is back as Kevin Flynn. He did such a great job in the first Tron, that it will be cool to see him take on the character again now that he is an even more developed actor. The huge Tron fan-base is pumped to see Jeff take the lead again. He is going to help make Tron Legacy the best 3-D movie we have ever seen!
